Description:

This document explains how to upgrade NITRO Studio in existing activated SharePoint Online site collections.

There are two upgrade options:

1. Upgrade NITRO Studio for a single site collection
2. Upgrade NITRO Studio for multiple site collections

The upgrade process updates the NITRO Studio Modern UI solutions and ensures all activated sites are running the latest version.

Option 1: Upgrade a Single Site Collection

Step 1: Open NITRO Studio

Navigate to an activated NITRO site.

Method 1

Click: Settings (Gear Icon) → Crow Canyon NITRO Studio

Method 2

Open the following URL directly:

https://<SiteCollectionURL>/SitePages/NITROStudio.aspx?env=WebView

Step 2: Locate Setup button on NITRO Studio Page

Setup updates the latest NITRO Studio packages and Modern UI solutions in the SharePoint App Catalog, making them available for site collection upgrades. It does not upgrade the site collections themselves.

On the NITRO Studio page, locate the Setup button.

If the button is visible, click Setup.

After clicking Setup button, below window will open

Note:

The Setup operation updates the NITRO Studio package in the tenant App Catalog. Since the App Catalog is shared across all site collections in the tenant, running Setup from any activated site collection makes the latest NITRO package available to all other activated site collections. Once the package is updated, the Setup button may no longer appear until a newer package version becomes available.

Step 3: Upgrade NITRO Studio

When upgrading to a newer NITRO Studio release:

1. Click Setup first.
2. Then click Update All Activated Sites or Upgrade.

This ensures the latest NITRO package is available before the site collections are upgraded.

The NITRO Studio page displays upgrade options.

Choose one of the following:

• Update All Activated Sites

This updates NITRO Studio for all activated site collections within the tenant.

This pThis process will take time, please don’t close your browser.

• Manage Multiple Sites

Click Manage Multiple Sites link on NITRO Studio Page to Activate/Upgrade/Deactivate NITRO Studio in multiple site

Below window will open

• Update Individual Site

Select the specific site collection and perform the upgrade.

After clicking upgrade button, below window will pop up which shows the installed and available version.

Click ‘Ok’ to continue the upgrade.

Step 4: Verify Upgrade

After completion:

• Refresh the NITRO Studio page.
• Verify the latest version is displayed.
• Open NITRO applications and confirm functionality.

Option 2: Upgrade Multiple Site Collections

Use this method when upgrading several activated site collections simultaneously.

Step 1: Open NITRO Setup Portal

Navigate to below URL to upgrade several site collections:

https://crowcanyonnitro.azurewebsites.net

Step 2: Open Setup

If available, click Setup

This updates the NITRO Studio Modern UI solutions in the SharePoint App Catalog.

Step 3: Open Manage Multiple Site Collections

Select: MANAGE MULTIPLE SITE COLLECTIONS

Step 4: Select Site Collections

Choose the site collection(s) that require the upgrade.

You may:

• Select individual site collections
• Select multiple site collections
• Select all activated site collections

After selecting the site(s), upgrade button will be visible

Step 5: Start Upgrade

Click Upgrade

The system will:

• Upgrade NITRO Studio components
• Update Modern UI solutions
• Apply required package updates
• Upgrade selected site collections

Step 6: Verify Upgrade Status

After the upgrade completes:

Verify:

• Upgrade completed successfully
• No errors are displayed
• NITRO Studio opens correctly
• Applications function as expected

Review logs if any issues occur.

Click ‘Ok’ and navigate to the site collection. All sites of this site collection will be upgraded to latest NITRO Studio Version

There is only one site in above site collection, that site is upgraded to latest NITRO Studio version
