“Sorry, something went wrong” error messages in tickets list (V3.0 Crow Canyon Help Desk) after installing latest windows updates (after June 2017)

Issue: "Sorry, something went wrong" error messages in tickets list (V3.0 Crow Canyon Help Desk) after installing latest windows updates (after June 2017).

 

Troubleshooting Steps/Fix:

1. Get SharePoint logs based on the Correlation ID, refer this article for instructions: https://www.crowcanyon.help/article/231

2. In the logs, if you see either of the below errors, the cause of the issue is incompatibility of Infowise Smart List Pro solution with .net framework in latest windows updates.

Error1:

“ Application error when access /sites/support/supportdesk/Lists/Tickets/EditForm.aspx,

           Error=Object reference not set to an instance of an object.   at

           Infowise.SharePoint.V3.Fields.PermissionsDAL.GetClientFieldPermissionRules(SPWeb web,

           SPList list, ItemData item, String fieldName, SPControlMode formMode, Cache cache,

           Boolean isLite, String loginName)     at

           Infowise.SharePoint.V3.Fields.FieldDescription.get_Visible()     at

           System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal()     at

           System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal()     at

           System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal()     at

           System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal()     at

           System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal()     at

           System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal()     at System.Web.UI.Control.P…”

Error2:

 “Error=Object reference not set to an instance

           of an object.   at

           Infowise.SharePoint.V3.Fields.DAL.GlobalsDAL.GetSetting(String key,

           SPList list)     at Infowise.SharePoint.V3.Fields.DAL.GlobalsDAL.Get

           DescriptionLocation(SPList list)     at

           Infowise.SharePoint.V3.Fields.FieldDescription.get_Visible()”

 

Fix:  This issue is fixed in v1.32.11 of  Infowise Smart List Pro solution, upgrade the Infowise Smart List Pro solution in your SharePoint server to v1.32.11 or above for the fix.
