Default retention request

This post is a feature request for automatically adding a default retention period to workflow history lists on creation of the list.  We would need to retain the ability to adjust the retention on a per list basis and be able to set the default time period.  Alternatively, perhaps history lists could be of a unique content type, and we could set a default retention policy for that content type?

The history lists are incredibly useful, but at some point, the data becomes obsolete and should be purged, especially on very active lists where the item count can climb into the millions very quickly.

We have hundreds of history lists, and our power users are creating their own workflows.  Keeping up with all of the lists and ensuring they have retention applied is a time-consuming job that we shouldn't really need to do.

Any update on adding a default retention period to workflow history lists and automatically purging old records?

I just spent an afternoon manually deleting old items from many history lists and it was quite tedious--and this process has to be repeated regularly. It seems to be a good candidate for automation. Could a workflow be designed that would itentify each history list in a Site Collection and purge records based on certain parameters?

Any help would be appreciated!

NITRO does not delete/purge any of the log list items by design. We can edit the workflow, update the execution history settings to refer to a new list as required. If you no longer need the old workflow logs list, one of the site collection administrators can delete them as and when required.
